چکیده

Viscosity and density data are collected at different temperatures for aqueous solutions of glucose, carboxymethyl cellulose (CMC), or both the solutes and used to check the form of a predictive model proposed in this study for viscosity estimation of mixtures of nonelectrolyte solutes in Newtonian fermentation broths. The model, which derives from the well-known Guzman±Andrade equation and is based on the Eyring theory, supposes a separate contribution of each solute to total viscosity, which linearly increases with solute concentration and exponentially decreases with temperature. Percentage deviations between theoretical and experimental viscosity values of both, the binary and ternary mixtures, are usually <5%, thus con®rming the validity of the present approach. # 1999 Elsevier Science S.A. Viscous product from activated sludge by methanol fermentation.

Aeration of activated sludge with 3 to 4% added methanol for 5 to 7 days yields an odorless, highly viscous (5,000 to 10,000 centipoise), black, pudding-like product containing glycan(s) linked other than alpha-1-4 or beta-1-3. Backseeding gives maximum thickening in 3 to 4 days. Incomplete acid hydrolysis of the black product gives a 0.27% solution of reducing sugars (75% glucose) which is an ...

Characteristics of Different Brewer’s Yeast Strains Used for Non-alcoholic Beverage Fermentation in Media Containing Different Fermentable Sugars

Fermentation characteristics of four strains of brewer's yeast (Saccharomyces cerevisiae strain 70424, S.rouxii strain 2535, S. rouxii strain 2531 and Saccharomyces ludwigii strain 3447) in Yeast Moldbrothcontaining four different fermentable sugars (glucose, fructose, maltose, or sucrose) were studied. Theaim was to consider the suitability of different strain/sugar treatment...

Dietary supplementation of viscous and fermentable non-starch polysaccharides (NSP) modulates microbial fermentation in pigs

Purified non-starch polysaccharides (NSP) affect intestinal nutrient flow and hence microbial fermentation in pigs. Therefore, we investigated the effect of NSP differing in viscosity and fermentability on colonic fermentation and bacterial populations in eight ileal-cannulated barrows (BW 30 kg) fed a cornstarch-casein based diet supplemented with 5% low fermentable , low viscous cel lulose (C...

Gas-liquid Relative Permeability Estimation in 2D Porous Media by Lattice Boltzmann Method: Low Viscosity Ratio 2D LBM Relative Permeability

This work is a primary achievement in studying the CO2 and N2–oil systems. To predict gas-liquid relative permeability curves, a Shan-Chen type multicomponent multiphase lattice Boltzmann model for two-phase flow through 2D porous media is developed. Periodic and bounce back boundary conditions are applied to the model with the Guo scheme for the external body force (i.e.,...

Effect of single additive bivalent metal ions on the growth of Streptomyces clavuligerus and clavulanic acid production

Metal ions are the main impurities of water and media ingredients used in fermentation processes. In this research, the effect of Ca+2, Co+2, Cu+2, Fe+2, Mg+2, Mn+2 and Zn+2 as chloride and sulfate salts was studied on the clavulanic acid production and Streptomyces clavuligerus growth. All chloride salts had negative effect on clavulanic acid production and no clavulanic acid was produced in t...
